5 Distribution Playbooks for Your Personal Brand

Here’s what usually happens:

  • You pour your heart and soul into creating kick-booty content.
  • You publish your content somewhere.
  • You move on to the next thing.

Do that ^ and you prematurely kill your content’s chances of success all while chaining yourself to the content hamster wheel—which inevitably leads to full-body burnout.

Lucky for you, you can prevent these tragedies by following my distribution playbooks below. Implement them verbatim or use them as inspo to architect a custom distribution strategy for your content.

5 Content Distribution Playbooks

Playbook #1

Start with: your podcast interview

  1. Publish the interview across podcast platforms.
  2. Create three 30-second audiograms or video clips from the most mic-drop moments to share on social media.
  3. Create three graphics of sassy quotes or data cited during the podcast to share on social media.
  4. Edit the transcript of the podcast into a pithy Q&A article for your blog. (ChatGPT can do this and then you edit it to your liking.)
  5. Make a 1-3 minute video of a key insight from the episode that you thought of in hindsight or didn’t have time to fully flesh out during the recording. Share it as an Instagram reel and invite your followers to weigh in. Use their comments to spark new content ideas.

Playbook #2

Start with: your blog article

  1. Find three “challenger” insights from the article and craft them into three separate captions for social media.
  2. Create three graphics to accompany each of the captions.
  3. Tease out the value prop of the article in your email newsletter with a link to keep reading on your website.
  4. Find something controversial from your article and turn it into a social media poll. (You can do this on LinkedIn, X, and in your IG stories.)
  5. Make a video of you talking through the article’s main points, embed it in your blog, and publish it on YouTube.

Playbook #3

Start with: your TED Talk or signature presentation

  1. Make an ebook that teaches people the lessons from your presentation.
  2. Turn one section of the ebook into a blog article.
  3. Create three graphics that highlight the main points or zinger quotes from that article to share on social media.
  4. Share one of those graphics in your email newsletter and link to your ebook or blog.
  5. Use snippets from your presentation to pitch podcast hosts for interviews. (And then repeat Playbook #1. Woohoo!)

Playbook #4

Start with: your free mini-course

  1. Create an infographic with the main points of your mini-course to share on social media.
  2. Write an article for your blog and embed the infographic in it.
  3. Create three graphics with key lessons or sassy quotes from the article to share on social media.
  4. Use your free mini-course to pitch podcast hosts whose audience needs help with the problem you solve. (And then repeat Playbook #1!)
  5. Turn your mini-course into an ebook and use it as a flash bonus to incentivize people to take your mini-course now.

Playbook #5

Start with: your lead magnet

  1. Make a video of you teasing out the biggest problems your lead magnet solves and share it on social media.
  2. Add a link to your lead magnet in your email signature.
  3. Create three graphics with key lessons or quotes from your lead magnet to share on social media.
  4. Write an article highlighting the main points of your lead magnet. (And then repeat Playbook #2!)
  5. Share a link to your lead magnet in podcast interviews so hosts can add it to the show notes and feel good about giving their listeners a freebie.

Bonus Tip

Build a content library. Every time you publish an asset, add it to your content library. Your library will not only make you beam with pride (“I created ALL of this!?”), it will also help you find content to repurpose and update.

Your library can be as simple as a Google Sheet. I built one in Notion for Digital Brand Kit. Here are the parameters we use to catalog our content.

Alright, that’s all from me today. I need to run to the grocery store and get some more PB. Team crunchy. Hbu?
