Here’s how it usually works:
- You want to go all in on your business growth.
- You commit to saying “hell yeah!” to opportunities to grow your biz.
- You realize you need more than nice headshots of you to promote your offers and programs. And then you recoil.
If you’re looking for ways to grow your visibility this year, it miiiiiight be time to schedule your brand photoshoot. Last week I shared how I 30x’d the ROI of my recent brand photoshoot. (Read it here if you missed it.)
This week I want to share the 3 essential poses that belong on your brand photoshoot shot list. Without these poses, you’ll end up with a folder of pretty but useless photos that make you look repetitive and uninspiring
The 3 Poses Your Personal Brand Needs

These are the images you will use on your social profiles, email signature, and official bio or media kit.
Pose Ideas: Crossed arms, power pose, hand on hip, hand on neck, hand on chin, sitting on stool, sitting on chair, sitting on desk, hands crossed on legs, holding jacket, hand on elbow, hand in pockets, one hand in pocket and one hand on chair, hands together on knees

These are the behind-the-scenes images and “real-life” shots that show you in your zone of comfort.
Pose Ideas: Chilling on the couch, sitting on the floor, holding a hat, standing in the kitchen, making coffee, making tea, texting on phone, reading on iPad, lighting candle, reading book, walking down the street, opening your front door, doing yoga or stretching, putting on shoes, making food in a kitchen, holding favorite books

And there you have it.

To show you how this shot list comes together IRL, here are the exact shots I sent to my photographer before my photoshoot. (I curated the images from the internet.) Notice how I included all three of those must-have poses.
And here’s a sampling of the final photos I got back from my photographer.
AKA: I got exactly what I wanted.
Had I not taken the time to prepare my shot list beforehand, I would have ended up with another spoiled photoshoot. And yes, I would have wasted thousands of dollars on photos I don’t like.
Now, depending on your brand energy and business goals, there are 7 other types of poses you might want on your shot list. What are those 7 other poses and how should you prepare for them?
They’re all listed in the Photoshoot Brief, which is one of 12 assets you get when you purchase the Brand Starter Kit. Check it out:
