When you have good branding, it does two things.
(ONE) On the outside, it creates the perception that you are the expert. That you are the professional. That you are the authority in this space and are probably making good money (even if you’re not). We call this Big Brand Energy and it’s what you exude when you have kick-ass branding.
(TWO) On the inside, good branding gives you the confidence to show up in a way that attracts the type of people who want to pay you lots of money. With good branding, you’re more likely to say “heck yeah!” to opportunities to grow your business.
✔️ You’re going to say yes to more speaking gigs because you ❤️ your slides.
✔️ You’re going to post more on social media because you ❤️ your graphics.
✔️ You’re going to pitch yourself for more interviews because you ❤️ your press kit.
When you show up with Big Brand Energy, it changes your energy and that, in turn, changes how people feel about you. Do you have Big Brand Energy?
[PAUSE BUTTON]
Okay, okay, I get it. This Big Brand Energy I speak of can feel a bit elusive. Maybe you have it. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you kind of have it? Sort of? A little??? To make this as non-elusive as possible, here are 5 signs that you do NOT have Big Brand Energy and you’re due for a rebrand.
5 Signs Your Visual Branding Is Broken
🚩 1. People tell you you’re too expensive.
If you look like a DIY job, you’re going to attract DIY budgets. If you look polished, you’re going to attract people who are serious about fixing the problem you solve. It’s a simple concept that’s easy to overlook when you’re wearing all the hats in your business.
🚩 2. You have product-market fit, but you’re not making sales or closing deals at the velocity you desire.
Assuming you have a solid offer, good branding can vroom-vroom your sales by passively building trust with your potential customers. Because when you look professional, people trust you to deliver on your promise. (And trust is a prerequisite to sales.)
🚩 3. You’re struggling to grow your audience.
In 2014 you could make a pretty penny with an ugly brand. It’s 2024, you can’t do that anymore. There’s just too much noise and content pollution circulating the digital universe, which means you need a strong brand to stand out.
🚩 4. You picked your brand colors because you liked them.
DO NOT DO THIS. I beg of you. Colors are the most important aspect of your visual identity and every one of them carries an emotional charge. If you pick, say, turquoise because it’s your favorite color, you create a perception of your brand that could be detrimental to revenue growth.
🚩 5. You just feel “meh” about your brand.
When you look at your online presence and feel icky about it, take heart…it means you’ve outgrown your brand. So good job on the growth! The “meh” you may feel for your brand isn’t a sign that something’s wrong with you—it’s a sign that you’re ready for the next level.
If you nodded your head (or cringed along) to any of these five signs, then youuuu my friend are ready for a rebrand! Go out there and get yourself some Big Brand Energy. 😘
