Today’s idea is my favorite.
We’re talking about email list building all month, and last week I gave you a play-by-play of how to do a collab/partnership to get more people on your email list.
This week you’re getting implementation idea #2 and hint hint if you’re on my email list, it’s probably how you got on there in the first place.
Idea #2 to Grow Your Email List: Make an irresistible quiz that’s related to your core offer.
For us at Digital Brand Kit, it’s the Brand Quiz!
The promise of the Brand Quiz is simple: answer some light-hearted questions and we’ll tell you what your visual brand should look like based on your personality, business goals, and audience avatar. Instead of shelling out hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for a designer to create your brand, you can take our quiz for instant clarity.
Why Quizzes Work
- Reason #1: People LOVE taking personality-like quizzes and discovering more about themselves. Often the title or premise of the quiz alone is enough to hook the right type of people.
- Reason #2: They make you, the quiz creator, smarter! Every time someone completes your quiz, you gather sweet, sweet audience intel that you can then use to refine your offerings and messaging.
- Reason #3: They have virality baked into them. Once you take the quiz and get your results, you’ll want to send the quiz to your friend, sister, and S.O. to see what their cheese preferences reveal about their subconscious desires. (You’ve taken that quiz on Buzzfeed, haven’t you?)
Word to the Wise
Before you pop out a quiz for your biz, there are 3 biggies to be aware of.
- Quiz Length
Shorter quizzes generally perform better because you get a higher completion rate. We were super intentional about making our Brand Quiz fun and fast—3 minutes max. Don’t make it a college exam.
- Audience Attraction
Think about how you can use your quiz to auto-disqualify or auto-qualify prospects. For example, if they don’t take the time to complete all the questions, maybe they’re not your ideal customer anyway. Or if they answer A instead of B, C, or D to a question, maybe they’re not a good fit for what you offer.
- Ascension Offer
What do you want people to do after they get their quiz results? Can they use their results to implement something in their business? Should they read a set of articles or listen to a series of podcasts based on what they scored? Think about a logical ascension offer (paid or free) for your quiz takers.
*****
Can you think of a quiz idea that solves a problem for your target audience or gives them a newfound insight into themselves? Put some thought into it over the next few days and let me know what you come up with.
